Anna  and the Fench Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Cute! Cute! Cute! Did I tell you it was cute by the way! I had so much fun reading this story, it completely captivated me and I read it in one day. It is a great chic lit read with lots of self discovery, first loves, romance, some stupidity, naivety, and immaturity. Oh and I can not forget that it all takes place in Paris. What better place to be to fall in love! There must be a French rule some place, stating one must come and fall in love while you are there. Anna is sent off to boarding school her senior year, awful I would agree who wants to move their senior year. That's how Anna feel too, she can't believe her parents are doing this to her. However once she is there she makes some great friends, and finds that she is losing her heart to one of them who just so happens to be spoken for. The story unfolds from here will they work out or not. What are they willing to do or sacrifice to make it. This story is really a story of self discovery the stupid human moments we all have as we grow and mature. Anne and Etienne, are really immature at times which drove me a little crazy. At the same time it is fitting to their story. It was a lot of fun to watch it all play out, a nice comfy read.

The romance was clean, lots of drinking and getting drunk, couple of inappropriate situations, with no detail. Not for my teen.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
"I hope, child, but I don't wish. There's a difference. She turned this over in her mind, thinking that if she could come up with the difference, it might impress him. Something occurred to her, and she struggled to put it into words. Because hope comes from in you, and wishes are just magic. Wishes are false. Hope is true. Hope makes its own magic." Magical, is Laini Taylor and this beautiful story. The prose in this story were just wonderful, she is so talented. The story its self was brilliant, it has everything, mystery, adventure, fantasy, angels, and other worldly creatures, and an amazing romance. I think if you like any or all of these things coupled with Laini's beautiful writing style, you will hopefully love this story as much as I did. This story was intricate in its telling, the relationships were all well developed and interesting. For me the story was not lacking in any manner. Mrs. Taylor had me with, "Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love. It did not end well."
I know I did not go into much detail, but this is one book that I just don't want to give one morsel of information away. I will let you discover it and enjoy it all on your own. I want to say more... but I will contain myself. Hopefully we can chat after you have read it! I am greatly anticipating the second book, and it can not be released soon enough.

The Name of The Star by Maureen Johnson
What a great story, it was intriguing, mysterious, a little haunting, and just really well done! I am not a thrill seeker so I wasn't sure if I would like this book. Friends reviews came back glowing and they didn't make it sound as though it would be to scary, so I thought I would give it a try. I am really glad I did. The story starts of with Rory who is and American headed off to boarding school in London. Sounds like fun! She is excited with all the new opportunities that this year will offer, new school, new friends, boyfriend maybe, and new adventures. Rory is a smart, courageous, spunky, friendly, and a devoted friend. Rory can also see things that others can not. Jack the Ripper from 1888 is back in present day London. He is reenacting all his old crimes, and everyone is scarred. All this is happening close to were Rory lives, and one night she sees something that might be important to the police investigation. I really liked this new take on the Jack the Ripper story, and I learned things I hadn't known about concerning him. There are lots of twists and turns to this story, which kept me on the edge of each page. I enjoyed the descriptions and workings of London. I felt like I was right there seeing it all for the first time along with Rory. The characters were wonderfully created I liked so many of them Jazza the sceptical, perfect, wonderful roommate. Boo her other roommate, who was a little more edgy, funny and a little mysterious. interest was funny, cute, smart and fun to listen to. I really liked his character. Their relationship is moving really slowly which I can appreciate, and it is really sweet. Alistair, is a side character who is really great he just added a little something to the story. The ending was quite a shocker! I am completely intrigued, to see were this is headed. I am really glad there is a second one to come.

Shifting by Bethany Wiggins
I really enjoyed this story I was quickly whisked away by it. I love the shift changing concept, and Maggie's ability is a little unique compared to similar stories I have read. Sometimes they were down right hilarious. Maggie has had a rough life she was orphaned really young and sent into the wonderful world of foster care. This her last home with Mrs. Carpenter, is a good home and offers her hope and safety. Well kind of safety. Someone/something is after her but who/or what is it and why.
On the first day of school Maggie runs into Bridger she spots him right away and feels a rightness about him, but pushes it aside. She has no desire to be emotionally involved with any one right now she has things to work through, plus who would understand her. From here we have the unfolding of the story which I will let you the reader enjoy. I really liked Maggie and Bridger's relationship, they start out as friends and moves in a natural way forward, for the most part. They each have their secrets and their flaws which makes them endearing. They both have so many issues to work through. Bridger's family or I should say parent drove me a little crazy with their "she is from the wrong side of town and social class." The ending had me shaking my head, I did not see that coming.
Such a simply pretty cover.

After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven E. Wedel

I really like the cover on this book very pretty how it's on the side like that. I shuffle back and forth on this book between 3 and 4 stars. I think lots of people probably will enjoy it. For me I just didn't like the being possessed part and then someone is going to perform an exoticism. I just don't like stories that deal with that subject matter. I did like other parts of the story, and the characters. I liked Aimee, she was a good friend, daughter, sister, had a big heart, sometimes did stupid, who goes back on a river when there is a river man in there? I also liked Alan he was cute, sweet and willing to help others. Nothing really wowed or moved me, but I still liked it. I liked her other series Need, better.

Seeking Persephone by Sarah M. Eden

I love Sarah's books they are full of wit and great banter between her lead characters. This book was no different. Persephone what a name, and fitting at that. I really liked Persephone she was courageous, that Duke Kielder(sounds like killed her), now would that not be intimidating! Persephone is intimidated, but stands strong and tries not to show it, she is witty, happy, kind, and sensitive. Duke Kielder (Adam), is over barring, egotistical in a good way, ornery, brooding, intimidating, and harsh, and yet he is flawed, lonely, and misunderstood. He is one of those guys you love to hate, but in the end love. Persephone and Adams' is a marriage of convenience. Persephone wishes and hopes for more. Is Adam capable of healing from his physical and emotional scars to give her more. This was a fun regency romance with lots of witty banter, and a very brooding hero.
