The Chimney Sweep Charm by Marcia Lynn McClure
*****

What a fun escape read just in time for Christmas. This story was lots of fun, I really enjoyed the setting which takes place in a modern day Dickens Village with old time vendors, stores and carolers/bell ringers. With Marcia's ability to paint a picture with words, I felt like I was there with Bailey and her friends. Her hot Chimney sweep man was gorgeous, sweet, strong, chivalrous, and just great. Bailey is sweet, cute, and fun. This was a sweet little novella with lots of charm and kissing that you wont want to miss.
I love Marcia's authors notes she talks about how she came to choose this particular cover, which is gorgeous, good job Marcia and Sherry is fits perfectly with our Chimney Sweep Man:)

Enduring Light by Carla Kelly
***** This is one of my favorite series
Can I just say I love Carla Kelly's writing! This is my third book of hers, and I loved it too. She has an ability to draw you in and keep you there, totally in love with her characters and their stories. Julia and Mr Otto's story picks up were we left off at the end of Borrowed Light. I was so glad I had the second book handy so I could be ready, I had to know what was going to happen after that big ending. Paul (Mr. Otto) has a big revelation in this story to tell Julia, which had me jumping up and down and really excited for them. Julia and Paul are separated for a time while she is recovering and making preparations for their up coming wedding! (hurray) and he is busy with the ranch and anxiously awaiting the wedding. Which does eventually come. It was so fun to be apart of the preparations, and the big day. I was so happy for them. They have been through so much to finally make it to this big day. Paul is such an amazing guy with Julia, he is so in love with her, as she is with him. They treat each other so well too. I love the romantic scenes that Mrs. Kelly lets us in on. They are clean and fun, and at the same time you get to see how sweet and in love they are with each other with out all the details but still just enough. They are soon back on the ranch, greeted with a big surprise from friends. It was pretty neat what they did for Paul and Julia, made me tear up a little. They are really put to the test by fellow ranchers, and old grudges resurface. Julia is one brave women, that round up she was on oh my, I don't know how she did it! Paul is one brave chivalrous man! They face their trials head on and with courage and strength from the Lord. They were awesome! Such a delightful, and wonderful story about love, enduring well, family, friends, and forgiveness. Wonderfully written in Carla Kelley's wonderful way.

Borrowed Light by Carla Kelly
***** One of my all time favorite books
This was such a darling story (hehe) it really was with a lot of spunk. Julia Darling lives in Salt Lake City, and is engaged to a man she is coming to find out she does not love. She finally gets up the nerve to call it off and at the same time answers and add for a cook in Wyoming. She meets her boss Mr. Otto, and the ranch hands, they are all a little surprised at their new cook. From here there is one adventure after another on the cattle ranch. Whether with the the ranch hands, stock, weather, or matters of the heart concerning Julia and Mr. Otto.
Julia was such a wonderful character, she is out there in the middle of no-where Wyoming in an environment completely different from the way she was raised. She does amazingly well! She is trying to figure out who she is and what she believes in and why. She is also smitten with her boss Mr. Otto. She has some wonderful disasters with cooking moments that were quite funny. She is very determined, witty, spunky, has a big heart, and is very kind, and flawed. Mr. Otto I think is wondering what he got himself into, and sure glad he did. He is a quite giant, has integrity, solid, no nonsense, intimidating, and under it all gentle and kind. He is one of those hero's you just love to pieces! There are several secondary characters with all the ranch hands and friends that are just as wonderful, and I came to love them all. I loved the romance it is nice and slow, which is nice we get to see them become friends and trust each other first. This story is so well rounded and interesting, kept me glued to the pages and wanting more. The writing seems effortless and flows wonderfully. I can't wait to read her next Enduring Light.

Shattered by Kailin Gow
***
I had a hard time with this one, the first one I really loved but this one was missing something. I really like the characters and Kailin Gow has beautiful prose. This one felt a little rushed. I still want to read the third, just a little let down about this one. I do love the cover for this book almost as much as the first.

Marian's Christmas Wish by Carla Kelly
*****
This was such a charming Christmas story. I curled up in bed and was swept away with Marian and her wishing story. Marian and her family are on the verge of ruination, due to her fathers untimely death, gambling habits amongst other things. Percy her eldest brother has kept them afloat for so long but the end is drawing near for them. Percy and his mother Lady Wynswich decide it is time to marry off Ariadne the oldest daughter to the richest man. However her heart belongs to another and she wants no part of this plan, but is willing to sacrifice for her family. Percy brings home two gentleman friends for the Christmas holiday, one is Lord William Clinghorn who is to be Ariadne's fiance if all goes well.... and Lord Ingram who is a government diplomat.
From here we have a delightful story that unfolds with endearing characters. I loved Marian she was so witty and spunky, spoke her mind, naive, and boy could she get herself into some of the craziest predicaments. Ariadne is the very proper Lady of the time, willing to sacrifice, and a little boring. Alistair is Marian's brother and he was so funny, he thought up some of the craziest plotting, great sense of humor and a really good brother. Lord Ingram was witty, humorous, chivalrous, sweet, flawed and endearing. I really liked him. I liked all the banter between this family and their friends they were quite a lively bunch. I thought this story was really well written and a lot of fun. A perfectly sweet Christmas romance to get caught up in this time of year.

The Haunting of Autumn Lake by Marcia Lynn McClure
*****
Okay girls Marcia out did herself this time, wow there are so many wonderful kissing scenes I could swoon lol. I love all her books, but this one is amongst my top favorites. Marcia has such a way with words such a gift that we get to be blessed to see come to life in print."Yes, the season of harvest and respite was a woman in Miss Autumn Lake's bountiful imagination-auburn-haired, with ribbons of pumpkin orange and sage green woven through. Her eyes were he color of ripe green apples and her lips such a perfect bittersweet that all men who looked at her desired to kiss her." I call that word candy for my senses. That is just the beginning of many, many beautifully written passages. Along with all these beautiful words we also get more of Handsome Ransom from "Ransom Lake" and Vaden. I loved that they were in this story so we could see first hand how there lives unfolded. This story is manly about their daughter Autumn, and she is quite a beauty inside and out. She longs to find that perfect man, that will cherish her and love her like her father loves her mother. She doesn't know if it will ever happen.....then a handsome stranger is wounded and in need of care. Autumn and her family help nurse him back to health. From here they build their relationship and love for one another. There is also a threat to Autumns well being, and a haunting ghost to add even more excitement to this story. I loved Autumn and her passion for life, and people, she is so sweet, and good. Her Handsome Cowboy she nurses back to health is strong, full of chivalry, flawed, had a rough up-bringing which makes him rather endearing. I loved that we were able to hear a lot about his thoughts, I love that!! Great story to curl up in a blanket with hot coco and be caught up in the romance and kisses!

Whiteout by Cambria Hebert
****
This was a really fun Wolf-Shifter stories, I always love a good one. This story had a really unique way of opening and I thought it was great. I love how Mrs. Hebert makes me fall in love with her characters. They are so wonderfully developed in such a short period of time. I found I wanted to know more about them, I didn't want it to end. Grace is so brave, and kind and at peace with herself. The wolf-shifter was full of chivalry, yet flawed, and self doubting. Great little story!

Indelible by Lani Woodland
*****
This book was awesome! I loved it! This second book is even better than the first if that is possible. I loved that this one started out with romance and it continued all the way through. It was nice to see that a relationship could be sustain nicely with all its ups and downs all the way through a story. Brent and Yara's love story is so sweet and they are so in love and perfect for each other. I think this is the first book I have read were it is constant through out. Most books build up to it, or there is something always in the way and then they can be together etc., you get my point. I loved the romance great job Lani! By know means is this the whole book there is so much to this story as Yara and Brent try to solve a lot of problems going on at their school.
The secret society with in the school notices Yara, and Brent and their unique abilities, and they want them for their own evil purposes. Sophia the ghost who is now plaguing Yara's life was intense(geesh ever heard of a psychotic ghost, she was scary). She also holds information that many people want, and are willing to take extreme measures to make sure they get it. Brent is having side effects from last years events. There are ghost, a secret society, love, betrayal, mystery and suspense a plenty. Another favorite part to Lani's books are all the relationships wheather with family or friends. I thought they were well done.I completely enjoyed this unique book and look forward to the next.
This is one of the most beautiful covers and one of my very favorites!

The Merchant's Daughter by Melanie Dickerson
*****

I love this cover, so romantic. I like that you can see her prince charming in her mirror. This was a wonderfully done retailing of Beauty and the Beast. The writing was well done, and the characters were what really kept me turning those pages. The good ones as well as the villians. Let me tell you there were quite a few villians in this story including Annabel's own family. I wanted to throttle all of them. In my opinion they get the worst family award, yes they were that terrible.
Certain events transpire leaving Annabel in the service of Lord le Wyse, who is a scared physically and emotionally. Annabel becomes more to Lord le Wyse through their Bible readings together. I really liked this aspect of the story. Mrs. Dickerson was true to history, at this time not everyone even priest had access to the bible (story takes place 1300's) Annabel had always wanted to read the bible, even willing to go to a convent in order to do so. She is very emotional over the fact that she can touch and read from this divine book. Their relationship grows from these and other little encounters. I really liked Annabel she is sweet, naive, sacrificing, kind, and patient. Lord le Wyse is flawed, self doubting, ornery, just, and honorable. He was quite the character at times! I really enjoyed watching their relationship and feelings grow for one another, very sweetly done.
On top of the wonderful romance and historical information there is also an almost murder attempt on a secondary character. This book kept a great pace and I loved this particular retailing, it was done with out the magic ( I do love the magical ones too) but it was fun to see what could happen with two regular people.
Great story, well done! I was sad to see it end. I look forward to reading more of this author's works.
